Jakarta: A magnitude 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia on Java and at least three people died on Thursday. National Disaster Agency spokesman Suitopo P. E. Nugroho told that people died due to falling buildings in the eastern part of Sumanep province of Java. They said that the earthquake came on Thursday when people were asleep and suddenly a sudden panic struck the earthquake. They did not even have the time to get out of the house.
He said that the earthquake has not suffered a widespread damage. Famous tourist places Bali's Despasar felt a tremendous shock of the earthquake, which caused panic-stricken people to run away from the buildings. Some guests staying at a hotel in Nusa Dua, located in the south of Bali Island, fled the building after shaking the building.
According to the US Geological Survey, the center of the earthquake was in Bali Sagar, some 40 km away from the eastern end of the Java island.
