The Supreme Court on Monday said that in the case related to the 2002 Gujarat riots, a case will be heard in July on the petition of Zakia Jafri against giving clean chit to Special Investigation Team to then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. A bench headed by Justice AM Khanvilkar said that the hearing of the High Court on October 5, 2017, against Zakia Jafri's appeal will be heard in July. Zakia is the wife of former Congress MP Ehsaan Jafri. During the Gujarat riots, Ahsan Jafri was included in 68 people killed in the attack by a mob in Ahmedabad's Gulberg Society. The Special Investigation Team set up to investigate the riots filed a report on February 8, 2012 for closure of the case, giving a clean chit to 64 persons, including Narendra Modi and several government officials. It was said that there is no prosecution evidence against all of them.
