Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said at the 42nd Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries on Monday, August 12, 2019, that in just three years, Jio has over 34 crore subscribers. He further said that Reliance Jio is now working on four new projects including Internet of Things (IoT). Mukesh Ambani's upcoming products include broadband for homes and enterprises and broadband for small businesses as well.
Mukesh Ambani said that Jio has spent Rs 3.5 lakh crore for high-speed internet of 4G. He said that Jio has made India the top in the world in terms of data usage. Ambani said that Jio has become India's largest and the world's second largest telecom operator company. Internet of things will give the company a revenue of around Rs 20,000 crore in a year.
He said that Jio has created a new service across India which has been given Narrowband Internet of Things (NBIoT). Under this, houses, industrial and public places will be made smart. Jio's IoT service will be available to all from 1 January 2020, under which around one billion smart devices will be connected.
This work will be completed in the next two years. Mukesh Ambani said that there are about 300 million electric meters in the country which need to be made digital so that monitoring can be done in real time and customers should see transparency from price to service.
