Bengaluru: Among the political splinter on the Rafael fighter aircraft, between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chairman and Managing Director R. Madhavan said on Wednesday that his company is not competing to become an offset participant of any of the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). He said that HAL would like to be a full technology transfer partner for the production of aircraft. Madhavan was asked whether HAL was deprived of the opportunity to become an offset partner in the Raphael deal. There is also a dispute between the ongoing disputes over the Rafael deal.
Madhavan said, "We are not competing to become an offset partner of any OEM. He would like to be a fully partner based on transfer of technology for the manufacturing of HAL aircraft. "He said that the main emphasis of HAL is on the manufacture and maintenance of aircraft, helicopters and related equipment and not offset business. He said that the transfer of technology makes the aircraft totally different from the offset business.
Madhavan said that under various deals, HAL has some offset deals but it is not a big part of the business from anywhere. He said, "HAL will continue to do such offset deals."
