Muscat: Last champion India started off a glorious campaign, defeating hosts Oman 11-0 in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Tournament on Thursday. India scored seven goals in the first half and four in the second half. Earlier, Malaysia defeated Asian Games gold medalist Japan 3-0 in the inaugural match of the tournament. After the first quartet of the match, India did not catch the momentum, then again, after scoring 11 goals in the remaining three quarters. Dilpreet put a brilliant hat-trick in the second half. India redeemed five out of eight penalty corners while Oman did not get a single penalty corner.
Lalit Upadhyay started the goal for India in the 17th minute. Harmanpreet scored India's second goal in the 22nd minute while Nilkant Sharma scored a 3-0 lead in the 23rd minute. Mandeep Singh gave the score 4-0 in the 29th minute. Gurjant Singh scored India's fifth goal in 37th minute while Dilpreet scored his sixth goal in the 41st minute. Akashdeep Singh was seventh in 48th minute, Varun in the 49th minute, 8th in Dilipreet, Ninth in the 51st minute, Harmanpreet scored 10th in 53rd minute and Dilpreet scored 11th goal in 57th minute.
