MUMBAI: The contracted ground staff of Air Transport Services Ltd (AIATSL) of Air India was on strike from the Mumbai airport last night due to which many flights are being delayed from Mumbai. A senior official of AIATSL told that the strike was over after discussions with the management. He said that other issues have been resolved and the employees have returned to work and the operations of the aircraft have now become normal. Significantly, the AIATSL employees had ended their strike on Thursday. These employees went on a strike to not get bonuses on Diwali and other issues.
(AIATSL) employees stopped work on the Mumbai airport during the midnight and Wednesday night. The company has not extended the contract for these three employees. AIATSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of AI India. This company looks at work on operation and servicing of Air-India aircraft and air terminal at the time of flight on all airports in the country. The company has about 5,000 employees. These include the contract workers. They said that on Thursday, at around 3 pm, about 37 flights including international, were delayed by 2 to 3 hours. They said that no flight has been canceled till now. The official said that Air India has put its permanent employees in service to see the work of ground handling at the Mumbai airport.
