The Crime Branch of the Bangalore Police on Thursday arrested wicketkeeper batsman CM Gautam and left-arm spinner Abrar Kazi for alleged spot-fixing during the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) -2019 final. Qazi is accused of taking Rs 7.5 lakh to score runs in a league-stage match against another KPL team, the Bengaluru Blasters. At the same time, CM Gautam has been accused of taking Rs 20 lakh from the owner of another team Belagavi Panthers for alleged slow batting.
Investigators claimed that Gautam had confessed to his crime. Joint Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil told our associate newspaper Times of India that apart from his statement, investigators had enough evidence to prove Gautam's involvement in match fixing and spot fixing.
