There may be a further increase in the Rs 44,200 crore liability of AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue) of Vodafone Idea, a struggling telecom company , which will require additional provisioning and pressure on its balance sheet. Market analysts have said this based on the method used to calculate such liability of the telecom department. If this happens, a company already in trouble may be locked up.
44,200 crore liability estimates
ICICI Securities said that last Friday, Vodafone Idea gave an estimate of Rs 44,200 crore related to AGR with interest and penalty in the analyst call. The estimate was based on differential rates of 18 percent and 12.5 percent. If this calculation is done in some other way, there may be a significant increase in AGR liability. The brokerage firm said that Vodafone Idea has estimated the base amount of AGR to be Rs 11,100 crore based on the notice received from the telecom department. At the same time, the company has estimated itself for the last 2-3 years.
The company incurred a huge loss of Rs 50,921.9 crore in the September quarter and has estimated an AGR of Rs 44,200 crore including license fees, spectrum usage charge, interest and penalty. According to the Supreme Court directive, he has to pay this amount within three months.
