Like in telecom, competition has also increased in the DTH industry. DTH operators are rolling out new offers and plans to expand their subscriber base. In this episode, Airtel Digital TV has also brought a new offer. The company is offering free service for 30 days to its new subscribers. Along with this, the company has said that it will soon eliminate the installation charge as well. However, subscribers will have to pay the engineer charge to the representative who came home for installation of the new set-top-box.
Recently the company has also reduced the prices of Airtel Digital TV's SD and HD set-top-box. Now SD box is available for Rs 1100 and HD box for Rs 1300. The company was also offering one month free service to existing subscribers, but for this they would have to be recharged from the 11-month pack.
5 different channel packs being offered
Airtel is offering several channel packs to offer near digital TV, starting at Rs 271. Subscribers can choose their channel packs after selecting the box. Explain that Airtel offers the option of SD, HD and Airtel Xstream box to select subscribers . The company is offering 5 different channel packs to new users. It includes packs of Rs 271, Rs 281, Rs 286, Rs 290 and Rs 329.
Installation charge will not be levied
Apart from one month of free service, the company is now scrapping the installation charge. Now, instead of the installation charge, the engineers coming to install the set-top-box will have to pay a fee of Rs 250. After the installation is complete, the pack selected by the subscriber while booking the aerial digital TV box on the website will be activated by itself. This pack will be free for the first 30 days.
