Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Amendment Bill Passed By Loksabha

Delhi,20,November,2019

Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Amendment Bill has also got approval from Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. With this, the Congress President will no longer be a member of this trust. Under the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951, the Trust has the right to construct and manage the Memorial. Apart from this, the selection of trustees and their tenure are also mentioned in this act. Till now the President of the Congress Party has been an ex-officio member of the Trust of this Memorial, but it will not happen now. Now Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha will be a part of this trust.

Explain that due to the removal of the Congress President from the ex-officio membership, now no member of the Gandhi family will be a part of it. Earlier, due to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and now Sonia becoming the Congress President, some member of the Gandhi family had been involved in this trust for a long time. Now, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary will be a member as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Let me tell you that the government introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session, which was passed by voice vote.

Speaking on this issue in the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that thousands of people had sacrificed at Jallianwala Bagh. He said, "It should not be said in future that we have got freedom without shedding blood." He said that we will never say that we got freedom without a pillar and shield. The struggle for independence started only when thousands of people opened fire and shed their blood.
