Decision On Oil Purchase From Iran After Polls Says India

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has told Iran 's Foreign Minister Javed Jarif on his trip to India that on the purchase of oil, the decision will be taken after the Lok Sabha elections. He said that this decision will be taken in keeping with the requirements of India's commercial needs, energy security and economic interests.

 

 

According to official sources, the Iranian foreign minister who came to India on a visit came to India on her initiative. He has come to discuss the current situation in the area, restrictions imposed by the US and bilateral cooperation. They have discussed recent conditions in Russia, China, Turkmenistan and Iraq in the last few days.

 

 

According to official sources, India has clarified its stand on this issue again that all parties should make peace with this issue peacefully and should be resolved through dialogue. Explain that this meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Iran is done by the US 12 days after the end of the 6-month exemption given to India and other countries to buy oil from Iran.

 

 

India is the world's third largest importer of crude oil and it imports 80% of its needs . India is the third largest exporter of oil to Iran after Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and India imports more than 10% of its oil needs from Iran. The United States has asked India and other countries to stop importing oil from Iran by November 4 to avoid U.S. sanctions. Earlier, the US had given 8 countries, including India, six months' remission to import oil from Iran.

 

 

 

Meanwhile, Chabahar Port was also discussed during the meeting and both sides expressed satisfaction over its development. India is developing this port of Iran.
