External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has told Iran 's Foreign Minister Javed Jarif on his trip to India that on the purchase of oil, the decision will be taken after the Lok Sabha elections. India is the third largest exporter of oil to Iran after Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and India imports more than 10% of its oil needs from Iran. The United States has asked India and other countries to stop importing oil from Iran by November 4 to avoid U.S. sanctions. Earlier, the US had given 8 countries, including India, six months' remission to import oil from Iran.
