Turkey bombed Syria's northeastern region on Friday, killing 14 civilians. Turkish President Rijeb Tayyip Ardoan has threatened that the bombing will escalate. Surprisingly, US President Donald Trump had informed about a 5-day ceasefire agreement just hours before.
Trump had on Thursday tweeted that within five days of the ceasefire, Kurdish fighters would be evacuated from other areas where Turkey seeks control, including the border-ravaged city of Ras al-Ain. Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for the Kurdish fighters, wrote on Twitter that the Turkish attack continued, targeting residential areas as well as a hospital. To this, President Rijeb Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkish military forces have halted the fighting and that the fight will resume only if the Kurdish fighters do not vacate the area by Tuesday night.
