Assam NRC: SC said - publish the names of the missing people online by 31 August, keep the figures safe

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court today on the issue of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. In this case, the Supreme Court has ordered that the names of those left out of the final list of NRC should be published online only on August 31. The court has also said that the data should be kept as Aadhaar.

 

 

There should be an Aadhaar-like system to protect the figures - Supreme Court

 

Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice R.F. The bench of Nariman said that there should be proper system like Aadhaar for the security of the Assam NRC figures. The court also said that the ongoing process of making NRC cannot be ordered to be resumed based on the challenges being given legally.

 

 

Delay in functioning of NRC due to floods in Assam

 

Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that the final Assam NAC would be published by 31 August. Let us know that due to the floods in 23 districts last month, life was disturbed all over Assam. Hence, the functioning of NRC is getting delayed. According to the court, how many Indians are in Assam and how many foreigners, the final draft has to be submitted by 31 August.
