New Delhi: The Union Human Resource Development Minister has approved about 5 thousand additional seats in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. Students will get nomination from the 2019-20 session on the increased seats. At present, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) has 46,600 seats and it will now increase to 51000. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is a great residential school providing quality education for the children of rural surroundings.
In the last four years, about 9000 seats have been increased in Navodaya Vidyalaya. Adding this five thousand seats, in the current tenure of Modi Government, about 14 thousand seats have been increased in JNV. The government has tried to add 32 thousand more seats to these schools in the next four years. Speaking on the increase of seats, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that this is the largest ever increase of seats.
Prakash Javadekar said that JNV provides almost free-of-cost education and students will get quality education in rural areas in the greater number than seat increase. Navodaya is the first school in the country where students have to enter entrance test for nomination in class six. In the year 2001, 5.50 lakh students were sitting in the entrance examination for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas entrance examination.
The number of people sitting in the examinations year by year increased and in the year 2019, 31.10 lakh students have applied for admission here. With increasing numbers of students, it is evident that the children of the village are so aware of how to get quality education. The government is also thinking about setting up of a new district in Navodaya Vidyalaya, besides raising the seat. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is known for its excellent quality education.
The students studying in this school have a pass percentage of 97 in the 10th and 12th, which is more than the national average of CBSE. 86% of the students pass the first class from the 10th and 12th exams.
