New Zealand speedster Trent Boult bagged his maiden ODI hat-trick as the Kiwis clinched 47-run victory over Pakistan in the 1st ODI of the 3-match series in Abu Dhabi. Veteran batsman Ross Taylor and wicket-keeper Tom Latham were the star performers for New Zealand as they registered a challenging total of 269 runs on board batting first in Abu Dhabi against Pakistan. With hopes of avenging the 3-0 T20I series defeat, the Kiwis received an early boost as Boult reduced the hosts to 8/3 early in the innings by becoming only the third Kiwi bowler to take a treble.
Boult wasn't a part of the T20I series in which New Zealand were swept aside by Sarfraz Ahmed's men, because of the birth of his child. Back in the team as the 'new dad', Boult did the damage in only his second over by removing Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez on successive deliveries.
