Rafael dispute has no bearing on the relationship between India and France: Government

New Delhi: India on Thursday said that there has been no impact on strong strategic relations between the two countries due to the controversy over the purchase of 36 Rafael fighters from France. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said, "We have a very strong relationship with France. I can say that this (the Rafael dispute) has not made any impact on our relations. There is a huge controversy over the ruling BJP and opposition Congress party in India buying Rafale jet from France's aerospace company Dassault. The Congress alleged that heavy irregularities were incurred in the purchase of Raphael aircraft. The Congress says that the BJP government is buying every aircraft for Rs 1,670 crore, while the UPA government has discussed its purchase for Rs 526 crore.
