Madrid: At least nine people died due to a devastating flood that took place on Malarsa Island in Spain on Tuesday night. Regional emergency services said that the dead included two British nationals. By now it is not known whether other British citizens are missing or not.
Due to the heavy rains of a dry river 60 kilometers east of Palma, the capital of Maloursa, there was a sharp drop of water and heavy muds. At least nine people died due to the sudden floods. Officials said that more than 100 relief and rescue workers have been searching and saving people since Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, the vehicles and soldiers of Army's emergency unit were also engaged in relief and rescue operations. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has described the news of the flood as a shocking one. He wrote on Twitter, "My feelings for the people affected by the flood and the casualties of the people and the friends. I am with them."
