The Supreme Court is going to hear the bail plea of former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case today . The court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate , the investigating agency in the case . The Delhi High Court dismissed the petition of the former finance minister. SC issued notice to Enforcement Directorate
Former finance minister accused of money laundering and misuse of office has approached the Supreme Court after the High Court was not relieved. The investigating agency is opposing Chidambaram's bail. Agreeing with the agency's pleas, the Delhi High Court dismissed his bail plea. The next hearing in the case is to be held on 26 November.
The High Court has dismissed Chidambaram's plea that has shocked former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case filed by the ED. His bail application has been rejected by the Delhi High Court. The High Court said that the charges against Chidambaram are prima facie in nature, they have also had an active and prominent role in the crime.
FIR filed against Chidambaram in 2017
INX Media Group was found to be irregular in 2007 in connection with receiving foreign funds of Rs 305 crore. It was found that there were lapses in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in granting clearance for the fund. P Chidambaram was then Finance Minister. The CBI had registered an FIR against Chidambaram on May 2017.
