Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 3 wickets, win in Colombo T20

Sri Lanka defeated South Africa by three wickets in an exciting T20 match at the SCG on Tuesday, thanks to the struggling innings of captain Dinesh Chandimal (36 not out). The bowlers were dominated by the two teams in this one-off T20 game played at the R. Premadasa Stadium. A total of 197 runs were scored in the match and 17 wickets fell. Sri Lanka first to bat South Africa were all out for 98 runs in 16.4 overs. Getting the goal was not easy for the hosts though. Sri Lanka lost 16 overs and lost seven wickets in reaching the target.

 

 

 

The Sri Lankan hero was his captain. Chandimal kept one end between the wickets of the wickets and with the help of three fours and one six in 33 balls, the unbeaten innings took the team to victory. Yusuda Udana returned with an unbeaten five runs.

 

 

 

Apart from them, Dhananjay D Silva made 31 runs in 26 balls with four fours and two sixes. Both shared a 53-run partnership for the third wicket at crucial times. This partnership came when Chasing the target, Sri Lanka lost the wickets of Kushal Perera (3) and Kaushal Mendis (1) on total score of six.

 

 

 

Dhananjay was dismissed by Jr. on total score of 59. South African bowlers kept the hosts in trouble with consistent wickets, but captain Chandimal succeeded in winning the team. In addition to Chandimal and Dhananjay, Dasun Shanaaka (16) for Sri Lanka could touch the tenth position.

 

 

 

Kagoso Rabada, Tabrez Shamsi and Dala took two wickets each for South Africa. Captain Jean Paul Duminy got one wicket.

 

 

 

Earlier, Sri Lankan bowlers did not allow the guest team to score big. Quinton de Kock scored 13 runs in the first over, but Hashim Amla opened the account in the next over and returned to the pavilion on total score of 20. D.Coll runs out after 10 runs.

 

 

 

Sri Lankan bowlers continued to take wickets consecutively, leaving South Africa in pile of 16.4 overs. Syndakana took three wickets for Sri Lanka. Dhananjay and Akila got two successes. Kasun Ridhaa and Isuru Udana took one wicket each.
