Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited ( BSNL ) caught in the financial crisis has hoped that around 80,000 employees of the company can opt for the VRS (Voluntary Retirement) scheme. With this, the company will save Rs 600 crore every month on account of salary. BSNL hopes that if this happens, it will save Rs 7,000 crore every year and thus it will be profitable within five years.
70,000 personnel selected VRS
BSNL CMD Praveen Kumar Purwar says that around 70,000 people have already opted for VRS and they expect more number of employees to take VRS before the scheme ends in December. The assessment was of 58,000 VRS Purwar told our colleague Times of India, 'We have given the Handsome VRS package and are confident that our goal of giving VRS to 80 thousand people will be met.' Explain that the government had hoped that around 58,000 employees of the company can opt for the VRS scheme, but this number has been exceeded.
