Major Rane was involved in four jawans who were killed in an encounter with militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora district on Tuesday. An official said that his body was reached to his house on Mirra Road Thursday. In the coffin wrapped in the national flag, his body was handed over to the presence of family members, army and other officials in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, the coffin, decorated with flowers, was brought from the army truck to his house, where he will be cremated with full military honors. The only son of his parents, Rane had completed his childhood dream of joining the army after completing military training from Pune and later he was appointed as an officer in the elite officer training academy of Chennai in 2011.
