The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board will develop a state-of-the-art apple, fruit and vegetable market in Pinjore on an area of 78.33 acres. It will be established on the basis of world class infrastructure and business parameters. The board has earlier convened a stake holder consultancy meet in Chandigarh on Friday. In this, Agriculture and Horticulture Minister JP Dalal will be present. During the meet, experts from different fields will discuss several issues in three sessions. During the group discussion, experts will give their views on all aspects related to the new market.
Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will make his remarks at the beginning of the meet. Chief Administrator of Agricultural Marketing Board J. Ganesan informed that Pinjore apple, fruit, vegetable market will prove to be a regional collection and distribution center for fruits and vegetables grown in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir.
This market will be known for modern infrastructure with latest technology, machinery and advance management systems. This market will adopt advance methods of auction to ensure transparent pricing. This market in the country and the world will also work for the trade and distribution of major fruits and vegetables grown by farmers.
Tomato, capsicum, mushroom, garlic, peas etc. will be traded on a large scale from here. There will be advance cold storage and controlled environment storage facilities. It will have all facilities for consumers, farmers, traders, companies and other stakeholders. Ernst & Young Company is playing the role of domain expert in conducting a detailed study of the market.
Preparation to increase exports of flowers, fruits and vegetables
The government in Haryana is now preparing to increase exports of flowers, fruits and vegetables. So that the income of farmers cultivating them can increase and at the same time, the economic growth of the state should be accelerated due to increase in exports. In this context, Agriculture Minister Jai Prakash Dalal held a meeting and churned with the officers of the Horticulture Department.
During the meeting, Minister Jayaprakash Dalal informed that to promote horticulture in the state, exports of vegetables, fruits and flowers will be encouraged. Along with this, youth will be given horticulture related skills training so that they can be made employable abroad. Director of Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, Dr. BS Sehrawat and other officials were present in the meeting.
