Kings XI Punjab team co-owner Ness Wadia has proposed to the BCCI that the national anthem be played before the start of every match in the 2020 phase of the Indian Premier League. The national anthem is usually played before the start of an international match but Wadia feels that it should be so in the world's number one cricket league.
Wadia also praised the BCCI for removing the grand opening ceremony of the IPL. Wadia said, 'This is a great move. It is good that there will no longer be an opening ceremony. I always wondered what is the need to have the opening ceremony which costs so much. The BCCI should do one thing that they should play the national anthem before every match in the Indian Premier League.
He said, 'I had also written to BCCI earlier and now I have written to the new chairman of BCCI Saurabh Ganguly. I think it is still played in theaters (before the film). ' The national anthem is played in the Indian Super League (Football) and Pro Kabaddi League. He said, 'After all it is the Indian Premier League. This is a great league and we should play the national anthem. In the NBA too, the national anthem is played before every match.
