The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order to release Chief Chandrasekhar alias Ravana, who is in jail, for a year. Ravana was arrested under the National Security Act i.e. Rasuka (NSA) in the 2017 Saharanpur Riot Case. Chandrasekhar will be released on November 1 Bhima Army founder Chandrashekhar Ravana is accused of inciting communal violence in Saharanpur. Ravana was lodged in Saharanpur District Jail since June 8, 2017.
Performance to remove rasuka from ravan
On the charge of instigating violence, the district administration had provided Rasuka to Ravana. After this, demonstrations were carried out across the country to remove the Rasuka from Ravana bound in the jail. Not only this, many big Dalit leaders had demanded to remove Rasuka from performing in the favor of Ravana on the Parliament of Delhi. A petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court for canceling Rasuka on Chandrasekhar. But the High Court also canceled the petition.
What happened in Saharanpur?
On 5 May 2017, skirmishes started in Shabirpur village of Saharanpur when some Dalit residents of the village refused to allow a procession on the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap. There was a clash between the two sides. After this, the people of the dalit community tried to make a mahapanchayat on May 9 in the Gandhi Garden of the city, so that compensation and relief could be sought for the people affected in the May 5 skirmishes, but the district administration organized them to organize a Maha Panchayat Due to which the downtroded community landed on the roads. Again, in the violence, Dalit demonstrators allegedly handed over a police checkpoint and more than a dozen bikes to the city in the fire.
