Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mourned the demise of former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone and called him a masterpiece of modern-day India-Japan friendship. Nakasone died at the age of 101 on Friday. Modi wrote on Twitter in Japanese, "I pay tribute to the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone.
Nakasone had made valuable contributions in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Japan. He would be known as the man who built the modern Indo-Japan friendship. "Nakasone was Prime Minister from November 1982 to 1987 and worked for the integrity of Japan.
