The provincial emergency management department said that 16.6 lakh people have been affected by this in Shandong and 183,800 people were forced to move to safer places by Monday morning. Heavy rains and strong thunderstorms have damaged crops of 175,400 hectares and toppled 609 homes, causing direct economic losses of 1.48 billion yuan ($ 211 million).
In neighboring Anhui province, the storm has affected more than 130,000 residents and forced 20,000 people to evacuate and move to safer places. The floods destroyed the houses. Crops have been damaged, roads are submerged and electricity and telecom services have been disrupted.
Moving north, the storm also affected Liaoning province. More than 106,000 residents have been sent to safer places, 28 trains have been disrupted and all major tourist destinations have been closed.
