Food delivery startup Swiggy BlueCollar could become the largest privately held company. The company is set to hire 3 lakh delivery executives in the next 18 months. After this, their number in the company will exceed 5 lakhs.
Swiggy's co-founder and CEO, Mr. Harsh Majetti, said at the company's annual meeting, "If some of our growth estimates continue, the day is not far when we will be the third largest source of employment in the country after the Army and Railways." The Indian Army has 12.5 lakh soldiers, while the Railways had more than 12 lakh staff as of March 2018. The IT company TCS has 4.5 lakh employees. The company is currently the largest employer in the private sector, with a majority of engineers working. All three provide permanent jobs to employees, while Swiggy Delivery employees are given money on the basis of their work under 'BlueCollar Job'.
