An 'All Star' match will be held after the 13th leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL). First this match was to be held before the IPL. According to ESPNcricinfo's report, the match was to be held three days before the IPL. The IPL will begin on March 29 and end on May 24. But for operational reasons it will now be held at the end of the tournament.
The two teams will be decided on the basis of their performance in the IPL. However, the date and venue of the match have not been decided yet. IPL Governing Council President Brajesh Patel told the website, "This match will be played after the tournament." "We will see the performance of the players and on that basis both the teams will be selected," he said.
The idea for the All Star match was of BCCI President Saurabh Ganguly. But before the start of the IPL, the proposal of this match was objected by the franchisees. On the question of organizing the All Star match before the start of the tournament, an official told news agency IANS, "Big names will start coming to India a week before the start of the tournament."
According to him, 'Now if you allow the players to play the All Star match on 25 March, then they will leave on the night of 23 March or on the morning of 24 March. The next day they will play and return on 26 March and then the tournament starts on 29 March. Is there any justification for this? Also, is it right for franchisees? I do not think so.'
The official said, 'We had news from the media that the All Star Match can be organized. We were not even told this. This All Star match is not being played between the teams of two other divisions and they could have done that by talking to us on this issue. We did not even discuss that any of our big players could be injured.
