ICAI CA Exams 2020 update: The Supreme Court has given necessary instructions to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the examinations of Chartered Accountant Courses. Today, the Supreme Court held a hearing regarding the CA examinations of ICAI. In which the court also reprimanded ICAI.
A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjeev Khanna heard the case through video conferencing. The court told ICAI that 'Do not be neutral, bring some flexibility in your examination method in this era of corona epidemic. Think about students a little bit too. '
Counsel on behalf of ICAI said that 567 test centers have been well sanitized across the country for CA exams. Now centers cannot be changed.
On this plea, the bench told ICAI that 'the institute should be given the option to change the examination center for students. So that students can avoid unwanted trips during the Corona epidemic. Corona infection cases are still increasing in India. Can not be neutral in such an environment. If an area falls into the Containment Zone, then students there should have the option to change the center. And these options should be till the last week of the commencement of the examination. Because these conditions are not stable. '
On this, it has been said by ICAI that 'there is a standard operating procedure and the examination center will be changed if there is a case of containment zone. Also, ICAI has sought some time to issue guidelines regarding the examination in view of the new current situation.
The next hearing on this matter will be held on 2 July 2020. Significantly, the India Wide Parents' Association had filed a petition in the Supreme Court that CA students should be given an opt out option for exams.
