China's CPEC Project, A Matter Of Concern For Pakistan

Islamabad,05,July,2018

According To The International Crisis Group (ICG), There Is Dissatisfaction Among Local People Due To The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPC). Among Them, There Is Anger Due To Incomplete Employment In The 2,700-km Corridor And The Army's Very Interference In The Lives Of The Citizens. ICD Policy Director Richard Atbudka Says, "People Of Gwadar Gave Birth To Aggressive Actions Against The Army In The Past. Now He Is Troubled By The Excessive Presence Of The Army. '

Gwadar Post Is The Main Part Of The CPE. China Hopes That Through This Post, It Will Get Access To The Arabian Sea And From There It Will Get An Alternative Route To Export Its Goods. This Region Falls In Disturbed Balochistan province, Where People Are Rebelling Against Pakistan. That Is Why There Is A Lot Of Army Presence Here. Due To The ICG Report, Politicians Will Be Forced To Pay Attention To The Growing Dissatisfaction In This Area Because This Report Came Just A Few Weeks Before The Election.

On July 25, There Will Be General Elections In Pakistan. A Non-profit Institution In Brussels Says That Due To The $ 62 Billion CPE project, Political Troubles And Quarrels May Arise. Because Of This, Pakistan And China Will Have To Take Immediate Action To Overcome The Problems Of Common People. Pakistan's Economy Needs A Clear Correction So That It Can Serve Its People Better And Many People Say That The CPEC Will Help In This.

However, Under The Current Circumstances, This Project Is Becoming A Source Of Political Concern In The Neighboring Country, Large Scale Social Divide And The Source Of Conflicts In Pakistan. At The Same Time, China Is Ready To Remove Every Incident That Is Causing Trouble For This Project Because It Is A Great Example Of Its Belt And Road Initiative (). According To The Report, Due To This Corridor, Anti-China Sentiments Are Born In People Because Some Communities Have To Be Displaced Without Having Prior Plans To Build The Project.

It Has Been Said In The Report That Due To The Displacement Of The Communities Without Any Clear Rehabilitation Policy For Infrastructure Projects, There Has Been An Increase In Anti-Chinese Sentiments In Some Areas Around The Corridor. It Also States That The Extremists Have Killed Dozens Pakistanis Due To Being Affiliated With The CPC.

The Leaders Of Pakistan And China Have Repeatedly Claimed That The CPEC Will Get Economic Benefits From Pakistan But The ICG Has Expressed Doubts Over It. The ICG Doubts That Pakistan Has The Capability To Make Economic Benefits In The CPEC.
